Course Works & Program Requirement

Students in the MCOM program are required to complete 34 credit hours, comprising required courses and elective courses.
Students in the MCOM program are required to complete and pass the Master’s Thesis Oral defense.

A student must complete the MCOM program within 4 years, with a minimum requirement of 2 years.

*Students who have never taken any courses related to the “News Gathering and Writing” field are required to take “Studies in News Gathering and Writing” once began in their studies with our program. However, credits earned from this course will not count towards the core requirements of the program.

*The maximum number of credit hours students may get from outside of MCOM toward graduation requirements is 12 credits.
